On October 7, 2026, AEON Mall Vietnam told Da Nang's leaders it plans to break ground on its Hòa Xuân shopping center in November, Tuổi Trẻ reported. Deputy Party Secretary Ngô Xuân Thắng and People's Committee vice chairman Hồ Quang Bửu inspected the site in Hòa Xuân ward that morning.
The figures, according to CafeLand:
- Cost: about 4,381 billion dong (about $192.5 million).
- Size: about 126,740 square meters of floor space on a 10.18-hectare site.
- Progress: AEON Mall Vietnam says it has completed the legal steps, received the land and spent about 1,390 billion dong so far.
AEON describes Hòa Xuân as its largest shopping center in central Vietnam. Tuổi Trẻ put it at about three times the size of AEON Mall Đà Nẵng Thanh Khê, which opened on July 1, 2026. The roads around the site are mostly finished, and water, drainage and power connections are due in October and November.
No opening date has been announced. The November start depends on AEON finishing its preparations.
Why it matters: Hòa Xuân, at the city's southern entrance, has been planned for years as a new urban center. A mall this size would bring jobs and traffic to an area still filling in. It also gives residents of the southern wards and the former Quảng Nam province a big shopping center without crossing the city.
