A company that makes high-precision parts for aircraft manufacturers plans to build a factory in Da Nang. Tuổi Trẻ reports that ASCO Industries would start with US$20 million for a 6,000-square-metre plant, announced by the Da Nang People's Committee on October 25.

According to Báo Đà Nẵng, the total could eventually reach US$100 million, but neither outlet gives a timeline for that. ASCO signed an agreement with the Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones Management Board in July 2026.

What happens next

City Chairman Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng met ASCO chief executive Jerome Morhet in Brussels on October 22, on the sidelines of a seminar attended by General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm and European business leaders. Morhet is expected to meet the management board in early December to begin construction, with operations targeted for 2027.

Tuổi Trẻ adds that the board has until November 15 to finish its own tasks and report to the chairman. Hùng told the board to contact ASCO promptly to carry out what was agreed. Neither report gives a site, a job count or a start date for hiring.

Other talks on the trip

Báo Đà Nẵng says Hùng also met Vincent Clerc, chief executive of shipping group A.P. Moller-Maersk, in Copenhagen with representatives of APM Terminals and Hateco. They discussed port and logistics cooperation, the planned Liên Chiểu container port and the city's free trade zone, but no figures or commitments were published.

In Brussels he met industrial-park developer DEEP C, which has operated in Vietnam since 1997 and is surveying sites in Da Nang. The paper says Hùng invited the company to a conference in November to announce the city's new general plan and promote investment.

The ASCO plant is so far an intention backed by a signed agreement, not a licensed project with a published investment certificate. Readers should treat the 2027 start of operations as a target.
