Cars are banned from part of Mẹ Suốt road near Bà Xí bridge in Hòa Khánh ward every day from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Báo Đà Nẵng reported on October 23. The rule, set in a ward document dated October 7, covers the stretch from Phạm Như Xương road to the south end of the bridge, heading toward the bridge. The report mentions cars only, not motorbikes.
Báo Đà Nẵng says the bridge deck is narrower than the road, which causes jams in the early morning and late afternoon near a market and a school. The ward's economic, infrastructure and urban division is leading enforcement with ward police, who are installing signs and explaining the rule to residents.
Separately, a City People's Committee document dated October 21 approves drainage, flood-prevention and traffic works in the area. It calls for renovating and widening the bridge, reusing the existing structure where possible, so it matches the road's width, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2027. The report gives no cost.
Why it matters: Drivers who use this approach at the end of the working day need another route until the widening is done.
