Da Nang wants controlled trials of crypto-asset services to ease the payment headaches of international visitors, but nothing was decided at a workshop on Friday, October 16. Tuoi Tre reported that the afternoon session, titled "Crypto-asset sandbox: a new growth driver for Da Nang's digital tourism," was organized by the Vietnam Blockchain and Digital Assets Association. Vice Chairman Hồ Quang Bửu told the workshop that the city is moving from encouraging innovation to allowing real-world testing of new technology models within a defined scope and period, under close supervision. He credited the special mechanisms the National Assembly has granted Da Nang. Tuoi Tre reports that six solutions have been approved for testing; an August report by VnEconomy counted three, and none of the sources lists the projects by name. Bửu said solutions must answer real needs of foreign visitors, particularly cashless payment and currency-exchange hurdles, and must show measurable results and verified safety.

National Assembly deputy Trần Mạnh Huy, who sits on the association's executive committee, stressed that permission to test does not let a business operate beyond what the law allows. He distinguished converting crypto assets into dong from using them directly to pay, and said that under current Vietnamese law converting first is the more suitable approach. Báo Đà Nẵng adds that officials put priority on anti-money-laundering controls, cybersecurity, personal-data protection and user safeguards.
What is still unknown
Neither report announces a start date, a named regulator or a final list of trial participants. For visitors, that means no new way to pay has been switched on: this was a discussion of criteria and monitoring, not a launch.
