Da Nang has searched for and recovered 120 sets of remains of fallen soldiers out of a plan of 390, the city's 515 Steering Committee said at a review meeting on the morning of October 23, Báo Đà Nẵng reported.

The meeting assessed the first phase of the "500 days and nights" campaign. Deputy Chairman Trần Anh Tuấn chairs the committee. At Hang Đá Sập, nine sets were initially recovered and the search is widening; 17 were recovered at a mass-grave site in Hiệp Đức commune.

Sample collection was completed on September 15 at all 144 martyrs' cemeteries. Of 25,672 graves checked, 13,793 samples (53.72%) were suitable for DNA testing, and 5,960 samples have been handed to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine.

The second phase runs to July 27, 2027: finishing recovery of all 390, verifying all information from the public, prioritising suspected mass graves, coordinating ordnance clearance and speeding up DNA tests. Localities must submit plans, with priority sites targeted in December. This follows recent public appeals in Hội An and Phước Năng for witnesses to burial sites.
