The Da Nang master plan to 2050, signed on October 21, proposes about 2,050 hectares of reclaimed urban land, VnExpress reported. Our earlier story on the plan gave the total; the breakdown by site is new.
According to the report, about 1,500 hectares would be in Da Nang Bay, 450 hectares in the Liên Chiểu port area and 100 hectares off the southern Sơn Trà peninsula, with other possible sites in the south of the city. The areas are described as mixed-use districts combining housing, tourism, commerce and services for roughly 400,000 residents by 2050. The plan requires continuous public access to the sea and public spaces such as parks.
The report gives no investment figure or funding source. The decision is a framework: boundaries, land-use indicators and construction plans for reclaimed land are to be set in later planning stages, based on assessments of infrastructure, environment, defence, security and climate adaptation.
What is not yet known: timing, cost and the environmental review each site would need.
