A Da Nang delegation led by Vice Chairman Trần Nam Hưng held meetings in Japan on October 22 and 23 during the 15th Asia-Pacific City Summit, Báo Đà Nẵng reported. The city met the Nagasaki and Shiga prefectural governments and the Kansai Economic Federation in Osaka.

In Nagasaki, officials discussed an anniversary programme for 2027, the tenth year of ties, with seminars, cultural exchange and business matchmaking. They also talked about staging the opera Anio, which tells the story of the merchant Araki Sotaro and Princess Ngọc Hoa, and about arranging direct charter flights. The only formal document mentioned is the friendship memorandum re-signed in June 2026.

In Shiga, Deputy Governor Orie Kishimoto discussed Lake Biwa conservation and wastewater treatment, and the delegation toured a treatment centre. Da Nang said it wants to apply that experience to water management as the city grows.

The Kansai federation, founded in 1946 with more than 1,300 members, was asked to promote Da Nang's investment climate and connect it with Japanese companies. The city proposed priorities including the international financial centre, free trade zone, semiconductors and AI.

The report treats all of this as proposals and talking points. No dates or budgets were given.
