Da Nang driver fined 5 million dong after video shows her using a phone at the wheel

A 34-year-old woman from Hòa Cường ward was fined 5 million dong and lost four points on her driving licence for using a phone while driving a car, Tuổi Trẻ reported on October 24.

Passersby filmed the car on Núi Thành street and sent the video to the Traffic Police Division of the Da Nang Public Security Department through Facebook. Police received it on the morning of October 24 and asked the driver to come in by 11 a.m. that day.

The driver told officers the violation happened a few days earlier. She admitted it and promised not to repeat it, according to the report. Police verified the video and drew up the violation record.

The penalty applies to using a hand-held phone while driving, the report said. Danang Voice is not naming the driver.
