Eleven education institutions in Da Nang now have more than 100 classes, Dân Trí reported on October 24, citing the city's education department. They are seven primary schools, three lower-secondary schools and the Da Nang Continuing Education Centre.

Department director Lê Thị Bích Thuận said public education establishments fell from 976 to 452, a cut of 524 or 53.69%. Ninety of the city's 94 commune-level units carried out the reorganisation. Tam Hải, Tân Hiệp and Phước Chánh did not, because they already met school-network standards.

Some mountain schools have scattered branches: one preschool branch is 30 km from its main campus, and the continuing-education centre's two sites are up to 70 km apart. Schools can have up to four preschool branches, seven primary branches and four lower-secondary branches. Students still study at their old sites with their previous teachers, though some teachers now cover several branches because of shortages.

The department says it will monitor the largest schools and consider adjustments if one exceeds its management capacity or affects quality, safety or students' right to learn. In the longer term it wants to remove small, scattered branches that lack adequate teaching conditions, once the education ministry issues rules on running merged schools.
