Small food processors in Da Nang are buying raw materials earlier and tightening storage as the rain and storm season threatens supply and quality, Báo Đà Nẵng reported on October 19.
Phạm Văn Huệ, director of the Bảo Tâm pure-oil cooperative in Bàn Thạch ward, which sells peanut and black sesame oil, said sales are down more than 20% from a year ago and that persistent rain could cut supply and lift purchase prices 10–20%. The cooperative keeps stock close to production needs to avoid tying up capital, dries raw materials in the sun and stores goods on high ground. Huệ asked for suitable credit, lower interest rates for working capital and more promotion support.
In Duy Xuyên commune, the Duy Oanh green-agriculture cooperative, run by Phạm Thị Duy Mỹ and making cereal powders, seaweed rice bars and herbal teas, buys materials by product group ahead of the year-end peak, checks and dries them, and keeps them off floors and damp walls. It has a plan to move goods to safe areas if flooding threatens.
The paper notes that Resolution 17/2026/NQ-HĐND of the city People's Council, covering agricultural support for 2026–2030, pays the lead unit of a production-consumption linkage 100% of consulting costs for an approved project, capped at 300 million VND, after the investment is made.
Why it matters: Year-end gift and holiday orders are the busiest period for local specialty producers, and the figures show how weather and weak demand are squeezing them. The report gives two cooperatives' accounts, not a citywide survey.
