A green-finance forum was held in Da Nang on October 20 as part of Vietnam Climate Week 2026, which runs October 19–22 in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Cần Thơ, Báo Đà Nẵng reported.
More than 150 delegates from government agencies, development partners, financial institutions, researchers and private investors attended. The forum belongs to AGILE, a Canada-funded project (Global Affairs Canada) that the Ministry of Finance's Agency for Private Enterprise and Collective Economy Development runs from 2025 to 2029. It aims to strengthen climate resilience for more than 90,000 vulnerable people and focuses on businesses owned, led by or benefiting women. The co-organisers were World University Service of Canada, Sarona Asset Management, SNV and New Energy Nexus Vietnam.
Agency deputy director Nguyễn Đức Trung told the forum the green transition is inevitable and central to Vietnam's net-zero-by-2050 goal; the Vietnamese-language report adds that he announced a free "dual transition" platform, expected in November 2026, to help firms meet green standards and obtain ESG certificates without re-declaring data. Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Kate Wallace said most of Vietnam's climate funding will have to come from the private sector, citing Australia's US$2 billion Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility.
Sessions covered capital from commercial banks, venture capital and blended finance, and the role the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Da Nang could play in drawing private money. World University Service of Canada and Impact Link Asia JSC signed a memorandum for a pilot "EcoChain" programme to help climate businesses measure and report impact and prepare for investment.
Why it matters: It is one more sign of the financial centre being pitched as a green-capital hub. Nothing in the reports commits money to a Da Nang project, so treat the outcomes as intentions.
