Da Nang's People's Committee has created a single Da Nang Innovation Center by merging three city agencies, Báo Đà Nẵng reported on Tuesday, October 13. Decision No. 4640/QĐ-UBND says the new center starts operating on November 1, 2026.
The three units being merged are:
- the Da Nang Innovation and Startup Support Center (DISSC);
- the Da Nang Biotechnology Center;
- the Da Nang Center for Research and Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence.
The new center is a public service unit under the city's Department of Science and Technology. Its work covers research, training, technology development and transfer, startups, biotechnology, microchips and semiconductors, AI, and science and technology statistics for city agencies. Until its formal mandate and structure are issued, it carries on the work of the three centers.
The report gives no staffing or budget figures and names no director.
Why it matters: DISSC is the agency behind the city's startup programs, its investor forums and the memorandums it signed last week with FUTA Land and with GIMA Group. Those agreements now pass to the new center. Startups, investors and researchers who deal with any of the three centers will have one counterpart from November. It is not yet clear whether DISSC's name, startupdanang.vn website and programs will continue under the new center.
