Da Nang's city government has told departments to move quickly on official norms and service prices for household waste collection, transport and treatment, Báo và Phát thanh, Truyền hình Đà Nẵng reports. City People's Committee Chairman Nguyễn Mạnh Hùng chaired a working session on the afternoon of 29 October and called the issue "important and urgent".

The prices must first be reviewed by the city committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, then published in the media for public comment before they take effect, the paper reports. The city expects about 4,452 tonnes of household waste a day by 2030. Five treatment areas currently handle around 2,200 tonnes a day, and six units collect and transport the waste.

Wards and communes were told to draw up plans to collect rubbish in tourist areas after 10 p.m. each day. Temporary dumps and informal collection points on pavements and vacant land are to be eliminated, and service providers must end delays that leave waste piling up.

The chairman also asked for obstacles to be cleared at stalled projects, including the northern Quảng Nam solid waste plant, a compost plant in the former Cẩm Hà commune, now Hội An Tây ward, and the Hội An city waste plant. Of the city's three northern transfer stations, Sơn Trà (200 tonnes a day) and Lê Thanh Nghị Road (485 tonnes a day) are operating, while Cẩm Lệ (200 tonnes a day) is in trial operation.
