On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 14, Nguyen Khac Toan, standing deputy secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, chaired a review of six priority projects, according to the city portal and Bao Da Nang. The six projects together total roughly 30 trillion dong, and several have no date yet.
The two with firm dates:
- National Highway 14D upgrade (4,518 billion dong): full construction drawings are due by October 30, with building to start along the route this month.
- Southern urban development and flood-control scheme (about 7,000 billion dong): the Department of Finance is to speed up loan procedures, aiming to sign the loan agreement in the third quarter of 2027 and begin construction in January 2028.
Four others are earlier in the pipeline:
- Quang Nam integrated climate-adaptive project (2,773 billion dong): compensation and land clearance for bridges and flood channels are being planned, with no date given.
- Khanh Son landfill waste plant, 1,000 tonnes a day (2,777 billion dong, public-private partnership): the city is replacing the consultant appraising its feasibility study, and environmental permits are pending.
- Waste-to-energy plant, south Quang Nam (2,184 billion dong): construction is targeted for the third quarter of 2027.
- Medicinal plant and ginseng project in Tra Tap, Tra Linh, Tra Doc and Phuoc Thanh (10,920 billion dong): it awaits a defense and security assessment involving the Ministry of National Defense and Military Region 5.
Why it matters
Toan asked agencies to move from checking paperwork to tracking delivery, with milestones, named officials and a single progress schedule for the six. The reports give the dates above as targets, not commitments, and nothing says what happens if they slip.
