Da Nang is working through 44 social housing projects covering about 39,541 apartments, but only nine are under construction, according to a Báo Đà Nẵng report published on October 13, 2026.
The paper cites the city's Department of Finance for the nine projects now being built: three started in 2025 and six in 2026. Over the first nine months of this year, it says, the city assigned investors to 10 projects with about 9,916 apartments and broke ground on six projects with about 3,317. Five more projects, about 3,164 apartments, are planned to start by the end of the year.
The central government has set Da Nang a 2026 target of nearly 5,000 social housing apartments, which the city says it is aiming to meet.
Recent sales have been small by comparison. On October 9 the city opened sales of 110 apartments to existing tenants in the Hòa Khánh Industrial Park social housing blocks. On September 25 the Department of Construction began taking applications for 277 apartments in the Hòa Hiệp 4 resettlement area.
Looking further out, the city has approved a list of 113 land plots covering 390 hectares, expected to supply about 101,000 apartments through 2030 and beyond.
Why it matters
For residents priced out of the market, the gap between the 39,500 apartments in procedure and the handful actually for sale is the number to watch. The report gives no sale or rental prices for any project, and says a plan to adjust rents on state-owned social housing is still being completed. Approval is not construction, and the nine projects underway are the ones that will decide whether this year's target is met.
