Da Nang's People's Committee has created a new research body, the Da Nang Institute for Socio-Economic Development, according to a notice on the city portal published on October 15. Decision 4710/QĐ-UBND says the institute starts on November 1, 2026.

It will sit under the Department of Finance as a public non-business unit with its own seal and bank account, and it is formed by merging the city's Da Nang Business Support Center into it. The notice lists its work as research, consulting and critical review of the city's economic and social development, regional linkage, support for businesses and the investment climate, training and capacity-building, and professional certification exams on public bidding. It will also provide research and consulting services to businesses and investors.

The institute will have a director and deputies, an office, three research divisions (science management and innovation; economics and development institutions; society, environment and urban and rural areas) and a business support division. A Central Region Consulting and Development Research Center, which runs on financial autonomy, becomes a subordinate unit.

Why it matters

Businesses that deal with the Business Support Center will now deal with the institute. The notice does not name a director, give a headcount or say where the institute will be based, so those details are still to come.
