Da Nang's Emergency Center has trained fishermen and local fishery managers in community first aid, Báo Đà Nẵng reported on October 24. The report places the training in Hội An Tây ward and does not say how many fishermen took part.

Ngô Thị Phương Thảo, deputy director of the Emergency Center, said the course covers the role of first aid on the spot, spotting accident and injury risks, recognising signs of life-threatening conditions and practising emergency responses. The centre coordinates with the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center, Region II, on response plans.

That centre told the paper it received and processed 87 search-and-rescue reports from the start of 2026 to October 15. It sent specialised vessels on 16 trips, directly rescued or assisted 21 people, and with partner units assisted another 181. It also towed one disabled vessel to shore.

The report gives no breakdown by area or type of incident. Fisherman Phạm Văn Hòa, from Hội An Tây, told the paper he helped rescue three people in distress at sea.

Why it matters: The figures show how often fishing boats and crews need help, and the training aims to prepare them before rescuers arrive.
