Da Nang's food safety authorities inspected 2,005 facilities in the first nine months of 2026 and fined 38 of them a combined total of more than 323.3 million dong, according to figures published by Báo Đà Nẵng on October 19.
The figures come from the city's Food Safety Sub-Department. Of 146 samples sent for laboratory testing, 142 passed and four failed. All 350 rapid tests passed. Of 38 surveillance samples of meat and seafood, 11 passed and 27 were awaiting results. The department also logged 2 poisoning cases involving a single person and 13 food-poisoning outbreaks, plus 18 hotline reports, and passed them to local authorities to handle.
The People's Committee has asked departments and localities to step up inspections under Official Letter 9966/UBND-KGVX, with priority on counterfeit food and food additives. Schools are a focus: the education and health departments are checking canteens, caterers and boarding kitchens, and boarding schools must disclose their food sources and menus. In Hòa Vang commune, 27 facilities were inspected with no violations found.
The department says it will keep inspecting through the year, with special attention to the run-up to Tết in 2027.
What is not reported: which businesses were fined or where the outbreaks occurred.
