Da Nang has approved the infrastructure project for a resettlement area at Bà Nà commune, designed to rehouse families who will lose their homes to the city's Free Trade Zone, according to the city portal on October 20.

Decision No. 4797/QĐ-UBND, signed by the chairman of the People's Committee, approves "Component Project 2" at a total investment of more than VND919.5 billion. The site covers about 65.38 hectares, of which 55.66 hectares is for construction and 9.72 hectares for technical infrastructure. Work is scheduled from 2026 to 2029.

The area is meant to house households affected by Free Trade Zone sites 4, 5, 6 and 7, and some neighboring projects. The works include site levelling, roads, rain and wastewater drainage, power, public lighting, a park and greenery, and utility trenches. The project also includes a bridge on route LKV30, linking provincial road ĐT602 with the western ring road, plus a 55-litre-per-second wastewater pump station and a new 1,000-cubic-metre-a-day treatment module that would double the plant's capacity to 2,000 cubic metres a day, Tuổi Trẻ reported.

Why it matters: The city approved an investment policy this week for site 7, a 276-hectare logistics and manufacturing zone in Hòa Vang. Clearing zone land displaces residents, and the resettlement area is where the city plans to rehouse those affected at sites 4 to 7. The reports do not say how many households will move, when allocation of plots will begin, or what compensation they will receive.
