Da Nang Water Supply Joint Stock Company broke ground on Thursday, October 15, on a new transmission main for the city's south-east, at the junction of Võ Chí Công and Mai Chí Thọ streets in Hòa Xuân ward, according to Báo Đà Nẵng. The project is budgeted at 155 billion dong.
The main line runs more than 10 kilometres along Võ Chí Công street, linking the existing D1200 main on Thăng Long street with Trần Đại Nghĩa street. A smaller D400 branch will follow Minh Mạng street, joining Võ Chí Công with Trường Sa street. The newspaper says the work will add about 40,000 cubic metres a day of transmission capacity once finished, balance pressure across the network and connect supply along the coastal south-east.
The report says the pipeline is meant to fix weak water pressure in parts of Hòa Xuân and Ngũ Hành Sơn wards and to serve new residential and urban areas. It does not name the contractor, give a completion date or say which streets will see traffic restrictions while crews dig. The delegates at the ceremony are not named.
Why it matters
Pressure complaints tend to follow new building, and this part of the city has plenty of it. A bigger main only helps residents once it is finished and connected, and that timetable is the missing detail. Until the water company or the city publishes a schedule, treat 40,000 cubic metres a day as a design figure rather than a delivery date.
