Korean manufacturer HS Hyosung has started building a US$100 million plant for BCF carpet yarn and commercial and automotive carpets at Tam Thăng Industrial Park in Thăng Trường commune, according to VietnamPlus and Vietnam News, both reporting the groundbreaking on September 29, 2026. The two reports differ on the weekday of the ceremony, so this brief gives only the report date.

What was announced

The plant, run by HS Hyosung Quảng Nam Co., on about 11 hectares, is the group's third project in the area. VietnamPlus quotes the investor's representative as saying all licensing and approval procedures are complete. Vietnam News reports planned capacity of about 16,800 tonnes of yarn and 7.8 million square meters of carpet a year, with partial operations expected in the fourth quarter of 2027 and a second phase in the second quarter of 2029. VietnamPlus gives no capacity figures.

The company's local investment would rise from US$472.2 million to about US$572.2 million, both outlets report. HS Hyosung has operated in the area since 2018, producing tire cord and airbag fabric; this plant moves it into carpets and automotive interiors. Báo Đà Nẵng's English edition adds that the plant will supply floor mats to VinFast, a detail the other two reports do not mention.

Why it matters

The project promises at least 200 direct jobs for local workers, a figure both outlets give. That is a promise, not a hiring plan: the reports give no recruitment timeline. The group's wider agreement with the former Quảng Nam province, worth about US$1.3 billion, remains a framework commitment rather than built capacity.

The first output is not expected until late 2027.
