Vietnam's Immigration Department and Vietnam Airlines have agreed to fix inconsistent procedures at airport border gates, while a new passenger-experience committee has been set up at Noi Bai International Airport. Both items were reported on 6 November by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

Immigration and Vietnam Airlines

The two sides met to coordinate on Project 1066, approved by the prime minister on 15 June 2026 to strengthen aviation security and safety with technology, improve coordination and raise service quality for passengers. Immigration Department head Maj. Gen. Cao Minh Huyen and Vietnam Airlines board member Le Hong Ha attended.

The department reviewed 41 recommendations from Vietnam Airlines covering identity documents, collection of aviation-security fees, security and safety risks, inspection and supervision, and problems at airports. The two sides agreed on fixes for uneven application of procedures between border-gate police units, data exchange quality and fee reconciliation.

Results so far include automated data transfer for fee collection, a separate inspection lane for flight crews, and written guidance on aviation security. The department also acknowledged that some border-gate units apply procedures inconsistently and that some officers' explanations to passengers fall short. Huyen said security remains the first requirement and making things easier for passengers the goal.

Noi Bai passenger-experience committee

A separate memorandum signed for Noi Bai creates a committee including Noi Bai's border-gate police, government agencies, airlines and airport businesses. It is meant to share information, resolve problems quickly and propose service improvements, under a stated aim of making Noi Bai "secure, smart and friendly".

Neither report announces new entry or exit requirements for travellers. For now, they describe a working-level push to make existing immigration procedures at airports more consistent.
