Lam Dong province has declared a natural-disaster emergency over road damage on National Highway 28, Thanh Niên reported on 4 November. The chairman of the provincial People's Committee signed the decision covering the section from Km136+800 to Km136+900, in Phuc Tho Lam Ha commune.
The area was hit by long periods of heavy rain from August to October 2026, which caused landslides, subsidence of the road base and damage to ancillary structures. Authorities say the slides are still developing and the weather remains unfavourable, which poses a risk to people and vehicles on the road.
The Department of Construction must mobilise people, machinery and materials to treat the site, keep staff on duty at the scene around the clock, monitor geology, direct and divert traffic, install warning signs and barriers, and keep out anyone without a task in the danger area. It is also to review, with the project management board for the Di Linh-Gia Nghia upgrade of the highway, how urgent the problem is.
The declaration allows resources to be mobilised and the damage and cause to be assessed before repairs are proposed. The report does not say whether traffic is currently restricted, and drivers should check local traffic notices before travelling the route.
