Liên Chiểu ward held a summary meeting on October 22 for a 45-day peak campaign against drugs that ran from August 5 to September 20, Báo Đà Nẵng reported. The stated goal was to clean up the ward and shed its label as a drug hotspot.
According to the figures presented, police gave rapid tests to 741 people, with 67 positive results covering 61 individuals. Nine criminal cases involving 15 suspects were handled, which the ward said was 150 percent of its target, and nine people were sent to compulsory rehabilitation, 113 percent of target.
Police ran more than 90 armed night patrols, and joint patrols met 120 times with 1,680 participants. The ward also reported warning 22 people over loud music after 10 p.m., dispersing 11 groups of youths gathering in public and mediating eight neighbourhood disputes.
Five groups and 28 individuals were commended. The ward said patrols will continue and outreach will expand. The report gives no baseline figures for earlier periods, so the results cannot be compared with past years.
