The renovation of March 29 Park in Thanh Khê ward has reached its final stage, with an elliptical structure called the "Ring of Peace" now rising around part of the central lake, according to Da Nang Today, the English edition of the city's newspaper, on October 16. It describes the ring as a space that combines natural scenery with modern design.

The paper puts the cost of the project at nearly 673 billion dong. Besides the ring, the works it lists include a new entrance structure on Nguyễn Tri Phương street, public restrooms, boat docks, outdoor playgrounds, decorative fountains, an outdoor stage, sports courts, exercise areas and parking. The report calls the aim "a unique, modern cultural and ecological space" in the middle of the city.

The report does not give a completion or opening date, the size of the ring, the contractor, or any word on ticketing, opening hours or boat-ride pricing. It also does not say whether the park's existing rides will stay.

Why it matters

A renovation of this size could change what a city-centre park is used for, from rides and lawns to boating, sport and events. Until the city sets an opening date and says how the new facilities will be run, "final stage" is a progress report, not a promise. We will update this when an opening date is announced.
