About 8,900 mountain households in Da Nang sit in landslide and disaster-risk areas and need long-term resettlement, VOV reported on October 18, citing the city's agriculture and environment department.
The report's main example is Ra Lang village in Sông Kôn commune, where the riverbank has eroded for more than 500 meters and land near the water is sinking after recent floods. In Brùa hamlet alone, 53 households (over 300 people) live along the bank. According to the report, one Cơ Tu family moves to the village community house in heavy rain and keeps five to seven days of food in case floods cut the road.
Sông Kôn has six vulnerable points across eight villages, with about 460 households needing urgent relocation, said the commune's deputy chairman, Nguyễn Hữu Sanh. Nine resettlement sites are planned for 2027, and the commune is surveying locations with the city's agriculture department. Meanwhile it is stocking supplies with local businesses and asking hydropower operators for warnings before water releases.
Deputy Director Trương Xuân Tý said the City People's Council's Resolution 63 sets support for stable resettlement and that a citywide centralized resettlement project is due to be issued in October 2026.
The report gives no cost or timetable for the full 8,900 households. The nine Sông Kôn sites are not due until 2027.
