Da Nang has issued a set of nine criteria for villages to qualify as "new-style rural" (nông thôn mới) between 2026 and 2030, according to a decision posted on the city portal on October 18. It takes effect on November 1, 2026 and runs to December 31, 2030.

The nine headings are: socio-economic infrastructure; rural economic development; training for rural workers; culture, education and health; poverty reduction and social security; science, technology and digital transformation; environment and rural landscape; building the local political system; and security and national defense.

The notice says the criteria apply to city departments and agencies, commune-level People's Committees and the organizations and individuals involved in carrying them out. The page as posted does not show the decision number or the individual targets under each heading, such as income thresholds or road standards.

For residents of Da Nang's rural and mountain communes, the targets under each heading will decide what a village needs to do to be recognized. Those details are in the decision itself.
