Van Vu has become general manager of Renaissance Danang Hoi An Resort & Spa, Tuoi Tre News reported on October 20. The resort says she is the first Vietnamese woman to hold a general manager post at a Marriott International property in Vietnam; that claim comes from the resort, not an independent count.

Vu has 17 years in hospitality, in sales, operations and senior leadership. Tuoi Tre says she spent more than five years at JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort & Spa in Costa Rica, then returned to Vietnam for roles at InterContinental Long Beach Phu Quoc and Fusion Resort & Villas Danang.

She said she is more proud of her journey than of being the first, and hopes it gives other women confidence. Her stated aim is to strengthen the resort's position in the Da Nang–Hoi An market and create development opportunities for staff, building a workplace where employees feel trusted and can contribute ideas.

The report does not say when she started or whom she succeeds.
