Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Lê Ngọc Quang received Igor Baiazov, the newly appointed Russian consul general in Da Nang, on the afternoon of Friday, October 16, according to a city portal report.
Quang said Da Nang wants to expand ties with Russian localities and partners, and asked the consul general to act as a bridge in trade, investment, tourism, services, education and training, health, high-tech industry and artificial intelligence, as well as cultural exchange. He praised efforts to restore flights between Da Nang and Russia, which he said have helped draw Russian visitors, and promised conditions for the consulate to operate smoothly.
Baiazov said he would work to connect Russian businesses interested in investing in Da Nang and encourage businesses from Da Nang and central Vietnam to look at opportunities in Russia. He also thanked the city for helping set up a polling station for Russian citizens in central Vietnam during the State Duma election.
The readout gives no figures and no signed agreements. Russian visitors to Da Nang have grown quickly this year, as an earlier Danang Voice report covered.
