Four-axle dump trucks carrying about 30 tonnes of soil kept driving into Trần Hưng Đạo street in central Da Nang on October 21 and 22, although signs ban trucks over 2.5 tonnes, Tuổi Trẻ reported. The paper counted "many" trucks but gave no exact number.
On October 21 a truck turned from Ngô Quyền onto Nguyễn Công Trứ and then Trần Hưng Đạo, heading for Lê Văn Duyệt to dump soil at a real-estate project, with two more loaded trucks behind it. On October 22, mud covered dozens of metres of the right lane between the Lý Nhật Quang and Nại Hưng 1 junctions on Lê Văn Duyệt as trucks kept entering and leaving the site. Several trucks carried "TQ" or similar markings on the windscreen.
The Hòa Hải traffic police station of Da Nang police acted after the paper's reports. One driver was fined 5 million dong and lost two licence points for entering a road where the sign prohibits that vehicle type. Police also handled one truck on Nghiêm Xuân Yêm in Ngũ Hành Sơn ward.
The police told the paper they had inspected and dealt with the cases. The report gives no further statement and does not name the project's developer.
