Da Nang plans to turn the public land at 2 Trần Phú, beside the Hàn River in Hải Châu ward, into a park, Báo Đà Nẵng reported on October 22.
The plot is about 1,750 square metres. The paper says the park would be built through "socialised" investment, meaning funding from outside the state budget, and gives no cost or schedule. A preliminary landscape concept by HanBloom Garden describes a community garden with light art inspired by fireworks over the river, a central stage of 82.5 square metres, a multipurpose court, an outdoor sports area, grass seating steps and a paper-flower pergola.
The announcement came on the same morning that city Party Secretary Lê Ngọc Quang inspected idle offices and surplus land left over from the reorganisation of administrative units. He visited 2 and 6 Trần Phú, 1A Trần Quý Cáp, 10 Lý Thường Kiệt and 12 Bạch Đằng.
According to the report, he asked departments and wards to assess each site separately and propose how it should be managed and used, so that public assets do not sit empty and deteriorate. Sites should be sorted by function, he said, with priority for uses that add public space and serve residents, and each proposal should name who is responsible and by when.
What is still unknown: the plan for the other four sites, the park's budget and opening date, and who the private investor would be.
