The central-region semifinal of the Vietnam Electronics Design Contest (VEDC 2026) took place on October 24 at the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), part of the University of Da Nang, Báo Đà Nẵng reported. The contest's theme this year is embedded AI for smart IoT systems.
The Vietnam Radio-Electronics Association organises it with VKU and other partners. According to the report, 270 teams registered and 36 were chosen for the semifinals, which were held in three regions: the north on October 21, and the centre and south on October 24.
Registrations rose sharply on the previous season, the paper said. In all, 1,017 students from 61 universities, colleges, academies and research institutes took part.
Ten standout teams from the three semifinals will advance to the national final, expected on November 25 at VKU. The report does not mention prizes or the split of the 36 teams between regions.
