Da Nang's karate team is the city's first to compete at the 10th National Sports Games, with bouts running from November 1 to 8, Báo Đà Nẵng reports. Competition is at the Tân Thuận sports hall in Ho Chi Minh City, where about 500 athletes from 34 provinces, cities and sectors contest 25 kata and kumite events.
Da Nang sends four coaches and 21 athletes. They have trained twice a day at the city's sports training centre and held a training trip in Hà Nội, and coach Nguyễn Thanh Hải called the Games the main competition of the four-year cycle.
At the national club championship in Đắk Lắk, Da Nang's karate athletes won 6 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze medals. Trần Lê Tấn Đạt, 24, in men's kumite, has several national and Southeast Asian golds, and Võ Thị Mẫn, in women's kumite, won a 2025 Southeast Asian under-21 gold.
Across all sports, Da Nang has 103 coaches and 522 athletes in 39 disciplines at the Games. The city's target is 37 to 46 gold medals and a top-seven overall finish, the paper says.
