A Da Nang mother of three is preparing to open her family’s book collection to other local families through a membership-based lending library offering children’s books, games, puzzles, and homeschooling resources.
Kay Wall, a mother of three who moved to Da Nang with her husband in 2014, hopes to launch the lending library service on November 1 if there is enough interest. Initially limited to eight families, the lending library will offer 532 books for children from birth through age 12.
The idea grew out of a familiar challenge in the Wall household: keeping up with an enthusiastic young reader.
“My oldest son’s love for reading inspired our idea!” Wall recently told Da Nang Voice. “We can’t seem to keep him supplied with enough ‘real’ books.”
For Wall, whose family homeschools, sharing the collection also helps other households discover books and activities they can enjoy together.
“We wanted to create an option for families that helped to multiply the joy we find in our home library,” she said. “I’m always looking for new books and ways to incorporate ideas from them into our home culture or homeschooling.”
The collection spans board books, picture books, early readers, and youth chapter books, along with nonfiction titles covering history, science, and animals. Families can also borrow games for different ages, including two-player and group options, as well as puzzles and toys.

Homeschooling materials include book sets, maps, math tools, pamphlets, and handouts supporting a variety of subjects.
Wall plans to offer two monthly membership options, with membership costs to be determined. The Casual Reader membership includes a curated selection of five books and up to one accessory item. Families can collect their selection on the first of the month or arrange delivery through Grab for an additional fee.
The Bookworm membership lets families select 10 books and up to two accessory items, with pickup on the first of the month.
Borrowed items must be returned by the final day of the month. Both memberships require an additional refundable deposit, which Wall said will be retained to replace damaged or unreturned items.
Memberships will be limited, and the first five members will receive a small discount. Interested families can contact Wall for pickup arrangements and further details.
The collection is expected to grow, with new books added each month.
“We always find new and used books both locally and abroad to improve our library,” Wall said.
Families interested in joining can contact Kay Wall on Facebook or email kwall0823@gmail.com.
