Youth Union groups in Da Nang are putting war-memorial sites online, Báo Đà Nẵng reported on 2 November, with one project already running and another still at the proposal stage.
In Điện Bàn Đông ward, the ward Youth Union has placed QR codes at the Điện Ngọc martyrs' cemetery and the Giếng Nhà Nhì historic site. Visitors who scan them can read about each site's history and significance.
In Hòa Tiến commune, the Yến Nê Đông village Youth Union branch has proposed a digital map of the local martyrs' cemetery. It would record each grave on an electronic map searchable by phone, using details such as name, birth year, hometown, unit, date of death and grave location. The commune Youth Union plans to seek funding and coordinate with the relevant agencies, and the report gives no timeline or cost.
Báo Đà Nẵng also says the data would have to be checked against official records and kept secure and up to date. The city Youth Union's deputy secretary said several units are building similar QR codes and digitised archives, though no figures were given.
