The second campus of Hue Central Hospital performed its first successful kidney transplant on 3 November, VnExpress reports, with direct support from transplant specialists from the main hospital. The recipient is a 54-year-old woman from Quang Tri with end-stage chronic kidney disease. The donor is a 32-year-old woman from Tay Ninh, giving a kidney while alive.

Both sides were examined and assessed for psychological state and immune compatibility, and the hospital's transplant council approved the case. The report says the transplanted kidney is working well so far and has produced urine, and that donor and recipient are stable and being monitored after surgery.

Campus 2 has operated since 2017 and runs a dialysis unit serving more than 200 patients, about 28,500 treatments a year. The hospital says patients in the north of Hue, Quang Tri and nearby provinces can now reach this procedure closer to home, cutting travel costs and time. The main hospital has performed more than 2,340 kidney transplants and plans to develop routine transplants from living and brain-dead donors.
