Work began on 6 November on a new satellite site for Ngo Si Lien Primary School in Lien Chieu ward, funded by a VND50 billion donation from the construction group Dacinco, Thanh Nien reported. The building is due to be finished in July 2027.
The Lien Chieu ward People's Committee and Dacinco held the groundbreaking ceremony. Attendees included Tran Phuoc Son, standing vice chairman of the city People's Council, and Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, vice chair of the city People's Committee.
The building
The site is on lot A1-2, between Truong Cong Huan and Dao Ngoc Chua streets, in the residential area south of the extended Nguyen Tat Thanh street. The design is a five-storey block with 15 classrooms on floors two to four.
The ground floor has a multi-purpose hall, a medical room and a pump room. The top floor holds a library, a rest room, a teachers' meeting room, storage and toilets, with a yard, parking, gate and fence outside.
Why it is needed
According to the school, Ngo Si Lien has 3,191 pupils in 73 classes spread across its main site and satellite sites. It lacks classrooms and specialist rooms, and some classes cannot yet study two sessions a day.
Thi said urbanisation and population growth make new school sites urgent to ease class sizes. She asked the ward, city departments and the donor to resolve problems as they arise.
Dacinco's Nguyen Van Hien said the company will build the project itself. It expects to complete, test and hand over the building to the ward in 2027, aiming for use from the 2027-2028 school year.
