Phenikaa University made the biggest climb, from the 951-1000 band to 697th, and Thuy Loi University rose from the 1001-1100 band to 731-740. Nguyen Tat Thanh University fell 132 places to 569th, Hue University fell 111 to 561st and Duy Tan University, which is based in Da Nang, fell 45 places to 210th. Only eight of the 25 universities that were listed last year improved their ranking.
Eight of Asia's top ten are Chinese, led by the University of Hong Kong. QS uses 11 criteria, with academic reputation weighted at 30% and employer reputation at 20%. Rankings measure what QS's methodology rewards, such as research and reputation, and are not a direct measure of teaching quality.
