A roadside restaurant in Quang Ngai has been fined more than VND8.2 million after a customer complained about a VND640,000 meal, VnExpress reports. The Nghia Giang commune People's Committee issued the fine on 3 November to Quán Bà Chín, on the approach road to the Da Nang-Quang Ngai expressway.
The commune found the shop had not posted prices and had charged more than its listed price: a bowl of cabbage soup cost VND10,000 more than the price list, and the boiled chicken was not on the list at all. The shop was ordered to post full price lists and refund customers for the overcharged amounts.
On 22 October driver Nguyen Van Duc and three companions were billed VND640,000 for a meal, including VND300,000 for half a chicken. After an argument the shop cut the chicken to VND250,000, bringing the bill to VND590,000. The owner, Tran Thi Minh Trinh, admitted the shop did not quote prices beforehand and apologised; the shop also published an apology on 3 November.
Separately, local authorities found about 1,747 square metres of unpermitted structures on agricultural land, for which the landowner was fined VND15 million in May and has not corrected the violations. The report does not cite a decree or give invoice details.
