Central Vietnam's power utility switched on a new 110 kV substation serving the Chu Lai industrial belt in the south of the city on October 28, Báo Đà Nẵng reports.

The Trường Hải station in Núi Thành commune was energised on October 28, according to the report, which cites Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) as the investor. It is designed for two 63 MVA transformers, and this first phase installs one of them, together with a short 110 kV connecting line and five 22 kV outgoing feeders.

The station is meant to meet fast-rising demand in the Bắc Chu Lai industrial zone and the Chu Lai–Trường Hải automotive mechanical industrial zone. It also takes load off the heavily loaded Kỳ Hà 110 kV substation, and its links to existing Da Nang Power Company stations are intended to keep supply reliable if one line fails.

The report does not give a cost for the project.
