Da Nang's People's Committee has told city agencies to keep close watch on prices through the end of 2026, according to Báo Đà Nẵng. The instruction is in Official Dispatch No. 10978/UBND-KT, signed by the committee's chairman.
The dispatch asks agencies to track the market and deal quickly with anything that could cause abnormal price swings. The Department of Industry and Trade must also draw up a plan to stabilise supplies of essential goods ahead of the Lunar New Year of 2027.
Lê Thị Kim Phương, the department's director, told the paper that retail sales and services in the first nine months of 2026 were estimated at 235,910 billion dong, up 25 per cent on a year earlier. Goods markets in October were stable, with plentiful supply and no shortages or unusual price movements, according to the sector's assessment. Big retailers including MM Mega Market, Go! and Co.opmart and the convenience chains have stocked up, and traditional markets such as Hàn, Cồn and Đống Đa are being supplied regularly, with no hoarding reported.
Phạm Ngọc Sơn, head of the city's Market Management Sub-Department, said inspections will concentrate on petroleum, gold and construction materials. Businesses must post prices and sell at the posted price, and must not raise prices without justification, he said. Checks will also cover product quality, smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods.
Lê Hồng Ca, director of Co.opmart Đà Nẵng, said the supermarket is working with Saigon Co.op on supply and costs and plans supplier-backed price support and promotions. He said the company will not pass all of its rising input costs on to shoppers.
On the promotion side, the "Made in Da Nang" campaign is to hold local-product weeks at Aeon Mall Thanh Khê, MM Mega Market, Co.opMart and Lotte Mart. A larger promotion drive is planned for November and December.
