Da Nang has adopted a 2026–2030 plan to bring clean water to rural areas, with about 1.76 trillion dong in funding, Báo Đà Nẵng reported on October 28. The City People's Committee issued the plan in Decision 4725/QĐ-UBND, covering 70 rural and mountainous communes.
The paper says the money will come from central, city and local budgets and other legal sources, including private contributions. The plan sets a target of 99.8 per cent of rural residents using hygienic water in 2026, with 65 per cent having sustainable access to clean water that meets the national standard QCVN 01-1:2024/BYT or a local one. By 2030 the targets rise to 100 per cent and more than 80 per cent.
The works are to include 170 new centralised and decentralised water supply systems in remote, ethnic-minority and water-scarce areas. Another 162 existing systems that perform poorly will be repaired and upgraded. About 13,715 households in areas short of water are to receive equipment such as storage tanks, reverse-osmosis filters and pipes.
Communes where less than half of residents have clean water get priority. The paper names Trà Vân, Trà Leng, Nam Trà My and Phước Năng.
Several agencies are given tasks. The Department of Finance is to advise on yearly budgets and draw up a roadmap for properly calculated rural water tariffs, and the Department of Health will monitor water quality. Commune People's Committees are to assess local needs, work with investors, encourage households to connect and manage the works over the long term.
The report does not give a year-by-year spending schedule or the locations of individual new systems.
