Da Nang has agreed in principle to a developer's plan for night-time services at Mỹ Khê beach, Báo Đà Nẵng reports. Deputy Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyễn Thị Anh Thi chaired a working session with departments on the morning of October 27.

The project is "Không ngủ" - Mỹ Khê Paradise by MBLand Đà Nẵng, a complex of hotel, offices and an entertainment area on Võ Nguyên Giáp road in Ngũ Hành Sơn ward. The site covers more than 11,000 square metres. Its night-economy part would include food and drink, entertainment, cultural and arts activities, stage performances and events.

The company asked the city to review and approve the project and to advise on issuing an investment certificate, either by sub-zone or for the whole site. It plans to break ground in January 2027, open a first phase in August 2027 and finish in 2031. It says the project would create 1,000 jobs and pay more than 100 billion dong a year into the budget.

Thi asked that investment focus first on the night economic zone and services at the beach. The Department of Construction, working with the Department of Finance, is to guide the company on infrastructure and check the project against the master plan.

The Land Development Fund Centre was told to finish auctions for beach-service operation along the Hoàng Sa - Võ Nguyên Giáp - Trường Sa road. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is to direct the Sơn Trà Peninsula Management Board to revise the 2020 plan for managing tourist beaches and send it to the city in November. The department must also submit an outline of a night-economy scheme in November, naming zone and point models with the MBLand project as a pilot point.

What is still open

The report does not give a total investment value, and it does not say that a certificate has been issued. It also does not report the result of the beach-service auctions. This follows an October 14 pitch by the same company, which Danang Voice reported as a proposal under review.
