The Da Nang Veterans Association has given 60 million dong to a member's family in An Thắng ward to help them build a house, Báo Đà Nẵng reports. The handover took place on the afternoon of 29 October in Phong Nhất hamlet.
According to the paper, the household's income from motorbike-taxi driving and factory work is unstable, and the couple have three young children in school. Association vice chairman Trương Xuân Lai attended, along with local officials and Fatherland Front representatives.
The association says it has so far supported 70 homes for struggling members: 28 new builds and 42 repairs. Total support exceeds 3.1 billion dong, and volunteers have contributed more than 315 labour-days. The paper does not say where the funds come from beyond the association itself.
