FPT Corporation's semiconductor chip testing plant in Bac Ninh began trial operations on Tuesday, 3 November, Tuoi Tre News reports. The facility, invested in by FPT Analysis Technologies JSC, sits in the Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park in Bac Ninh City.

It has a designed annual capacity of up to 300 million chips, and its first commercial order comes from a South Korean semiconductor partner. The plant covers 1,600 square metres with six production lines and a Class 10,000 cleanroom (ISO Class 7), and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.

Automated test equipment assesses chip performance, while handlers sort chips by whether they meet specifications. Chips also go through reliability tests, including thermal shock, high-temperature operation and combined temperature and humidity exposure.

FPT is developing an AI-powered platform to automate test program setup and plans to expand into advanced chip packaging in the next phase. The report says staff include engineers who previously worked at Intel's Vietnam factory. It does not state the investment amount.
