The Government Office has relayed, in a notice reported on 5 November, an instruction from Standing Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc telling four ministries to help the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) unblock inspection and payment problems at Long Thanh airport, Dân Trí reports. The Ministries of Public Security, Construction, Finance, and Science and Technology are to handle ACV's proposals within their authority.
ACV had asked for a council to inspect the quality of materials and equipment whose manufacturer, model or origin changed from the original contract in the passenger terminal package. It also asked ministries to send officials to sit on it.
By ACV's estimate, about VND8.925 trillion of work, across 12 of the package's 16 contracts, is held up out of more than VND10.43 trillion that needs processing. ACV says the project cannot yet begin the joint test run needed for an operating licence, and that contractors face cash-flow pressure.
The inspection results will be the basis for approving adjustments, accepting the work and releasing payment.
The report does not say when the council will finish. Long Thanh is scheduled to open on 24 December, according to ACV's earlier announcement.
