Hội An's ancient town has had an unusual drop in visitors and ticket sales over the past month, Tuoi Tre News reported on Thursday, October 22.

A Tuổi Trẻ reporter found Trần Phú, Nguyễn Thái Học and Bạch Đằng streets relatively empty at 9:30 a.m. that morning. Phạm Thị Ngọc, who works in a Trần Phú shop, said the low season usually starts in September but this year's decline is much sharper. Trần Thị Tuyết Dinh, who runs a lodging business, said cancellations for October and November are about 50 percent higher than a year earlier, and linked that to travellers' worries about floods. She also noted that this year's weather has been sunny.

Lê Quốc Việt, vice-chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, pointed to economic difficulties and to coverage of the 2025 flood season as possible causes.

From September 6 to October 10, the Hội An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Centre recorded more than 121,400 paid visits, 110,690 of them by foreigners, and ticket sales above 14.1 billion dong. The centre is preparing two themed tours, on architectural heritage and on tuồng opera, and is working with authorities to step up checks on street vendors and touting and to reorganise boat-ticket points on the Hoài River.

The report gives no comparison with last year's ticket totals, so the size of the fall is not yet measured.
