Hue's People's Council voted on the morning of 4 November to name the Thuan An estuary bridge "Cua Thuan", VnExpress reports. The name was chosen after two months of public voting on the city's Hue-S app.

Between 10 July and 6 September 2026 the app recorded 8,423 votes. "Cua Thuan" took 56.4 percent and the alternative, "Thai Duong", took 43.6 percent. The city People's Committee said Cua Thuan is a short form of the Thuan An estuary and ties the bridge to the place where it stands.

The bridge is part of a coastal road project through Hue and across the Thuan An estuary, with total investment of VND2.4 trillion over almost 7.8 kilometres. The bridge section is 2.36 kilometres long and 20 metres wide with four lanes, running from Hoang Sa street in the former Thuan An ward to Con Dau in the former Hai Duong commune. Its largest span is 218 metres, and it combines prestressed concrete with cable-stayed elements, with two A-shaped towers.

The city expects the crossing to shape Hue's coastal urban area and open land for housing, tourism services and public amenities along the route. The report did not give an opening date.
