Some customers of MB (Military Bank) have found storefront QR codes linked to their personal accounts in the MB app, VnExpress reports. One customer, Hoang Linh, saw a "mobile business" listing with a Hanoi address she did not recognise, and the store section showed movements on her personal account. She had never registered a household business, and the account did not appear in the tax authority's app.

MB said in a statement dated 30 October that the store and VietQR feature only helps customers receive payments and track transactions. The bank said it does not register household businesses or act as their owner on customers' behalf, and that showing store information or a QR code does not mean a customer has registered a business or opened a business account. It also said the display is not grounds for concluding that a customer owes taxes, and that it will keep reviewing registration and usage for customers with questions.

The report points to risks. Personal transfers such as wages, family money and loan repayments could be mistaken for business revenue and later need explaining.

The app showed industry and address details that did not match reality, raising questions about where the data came from. Customers also lose control over their information when a feature appears without their request.

Do Thu Hong of FIDT said banks should verify the accuracy of industry and address data, let customers adjust or stop the feature, and trace the data source and registration history. The report does not describe how to turn the feature off; MB's route for customers with concerns is to contact it directly.
