Certificates widening legal protection for the "Tây Giang" certification marks on two medicinal products, ba kích (morinda root) and đảng sâm (codonopsis), were handed over in Da Nang on October 26, Báo Đà Nẵng reports.
The Intellectual Property Office authorised the city Department of Science and Technology to present the certificates at a seminar and training session. The event was organised that morning by the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry with the Tây Giang commune People's Committee.
The certificates come out of a science-and-technology project led by the institute, which aimed to complete the brand identity, strengthen management and build promotional tools. After the administrative restructuring, the Tây Giang commune People's Committee became owner of the mark, working with the Avương and Hùng Sơn commune committees on managing and developing the products.
Training covered the rules for managing and using the mark, how usage rights are registered, granted and revoked, and requirements on labels, packaging, traceability and quality control. The report says the stated aim is to raise the value of the products and farmers' incomes.
